In September, Clearwater Marine Aquarium helped bring Winter the Dolphin to the big screen. Three months later, they’re bringing the big screen back to Clearwater.
CMA officially opened the doors to their new attraction – Winter’s Dolphin Tale Adventure – at a ribbon cutting ceremony last Wednesday.
“Based on the nationwide response we received to our AP wire piece Tuesday, I believe it’s safe to assume this will bring more visitors, especially to downtown Clearwater,” said Krista Rosado, the aquarium’s Director of Marketing and Advertising.
The ‘Adventure’ promises a behind the scenes look, with recreated movie sets, images, a variety of actual props used in the film, two mini-theaters, an interactive kid’s area and much more.
Guests can purchase tickets on location (just $9.95 for kids 12 and under) or at CMA where combination packages ($19.95) to both attractions will be sold, with free Clearwater Jolley Trolley transportation from one location to the other.
The film, which shot to the top of the box office in its second week, will be released on DVD tomorrow, December 20. The timing of the DVD release and the opening of the new attraction couldn’t be better with VSPC unveiling new Winter-branded ads in the trams at Tampa International Airport earlier this month.
Those spots – which proudly proclaim the area as the home of Winter the Dolphin – have been installed on the trams that transfer passengers to and from airside terminals.
